Architectural Review: Bitterroot Residence
Exterior Style
The front elevation presents a striking Modern Rustic Lodge aesthetic. The home features warm MillBoard Shadow Line+ Coppered Oak siding, substantial stone masonry at the foundation and chimney, dark brown timber trusses and trim, and crisp black metal roof accents. Generous covered porches, prominent gables, and carefully placed windows create a welcoming yet substantial mountain-home presence. The overall composition feels both timeless and contemporary — a refined take on the classic American lodge style.
Main Level
Entering through the spacious front porch (29×6) and into the entry foyer (8×6), you’re immediately greeted by an open, light-filled plan. The heart of the home is the expansive Great Room (18×16), anchored by a fireplace and soaring ceilings that open upward to the loft above. This space flows seamlessly into the Dining/Kitchen area (24×17), creating a large, flexible gathering zone ideal for entertaining.
Tucked privately on the main level is the Primary Suite (16×14) with its own generous bathroom and walk-in closet — a convenient retreat for parents. Additional practical spaces include a mudroom, laundry, and powder room, keeping daily life organized.
Outdoors, the home offers excellent indoor-outdoor connection with a large rear deck (18×9) off the great room and multiple porches, perfect for morning coffee or evening relaxation.
Upper Level
The upper floor is accessed via a staircase rising from the entry. At the top, you’re welcomed by a charming Loft (11×11) that overlooks the great room below — an ideal spot for a reading nook, homework area, or cozy lounge.
The second floor includes two additional bedrooms: Bedroom 2 (14×12) and Bedroom 3 (13×12), both well-proportioned with good closet space. A shared full bathroom serves these rooms efficiently. A thoughtful window seat at the top of the stairs adds character and a quiet place to enjoy views of the surrounding landscape.
Family Living Highlights
This home is exceptionally well-suited for family life. The open great room and kitchen create a natural hub for everything from holiday gatherings and game nights to casual weeknight dinners. Kids can do homework or play board games in the loft while still feeling connected to the activity below.
The large porches and rear deck invite outdoor living — imagine summer barbecues, watching fireflies, or enjoying morning sunlight filtering through the trees. With three distinct bedroom spaces plus the flexible loft, growing families have room to spread out while still coming together in the generous common areas. The wooded setting with dogwood trees, stone pathways, and dappled morning light makes the entire property feel like a private retreat.
Overall, the Bitterroot Residence masterfully balances rustic warmth with modern functionality, creating a home that feels both grand and intimately livable — a wonderful place for family memories to be made.
