Challenging Site For A New MossCreek Home
MossCreek just returned from a new project kick-off for one of our most challenging build-sites yet. We were greeted with heavy rains at the job site, and once the skies cleared, we could see that this design would call upon all our skills. The site is a slope bordered on one side by a creek, another by a large Beech tree, and then two utility easements. The building envelope is long and narrow, but with a great view of the creek, and the client wanted to be sure that the exterior of the home incorporated all the features that create the unique MossCreek style. The floor plan also needed to maximize the available square footage. MossCreek continues to work closely with the client to create a great home, and you can Click Here to see initial sketches. |

Clients Looking For Warmer Winters Look to MossCreek
MossCreek is currently working with clients from the Great Lakes region who are moving south in search of warmer winters and easier year-round living. The clients are building in a development near Chattanooga, Tennessee in which MossCreek has already created another home as well as some of the community amenities. As the clients’ needs have changed, so have their home requirements, and MossCreek has already created a couple different versions of their “perfect home” for them to review. As part of our custom design services, clients work with MossCreek to refine initial design concepts as much as needed, MossCreek then takes the final design and creates the construction documents. Modern Meets Rustic
Preliminary drawings for a new home to be built just outside of Sun Valley, ID, have been completed by MossCreek. The client's request was to create a home that looked very rugged and aged on the front, and then blend modern elements into the right side and rear elevations, overlooking the river. On the interior, a large circular stairway ascends up a silo stairway, along with many other unique features. Click here to see the early and final sketches of this new home by MossCreek. |

Site Review for New MossCreek Project
Placing a new home on the land is very important,
and MossCreek just held a site review meeting for one of our
current projects to make sure everything was perfect. The
clients and their builder met with MossCreek at the job site
to determine the best placement of the home. A view stand
was constructed so that everyone could see the view from the
actual height of the home, and the outline of the residence
was marked with stakes and flags to help everyone visualize
the finished structure. Click

Curb Appeal MossCreek Style
We are frequently asked to “MossCreek-ify”
existing structures to give them the “MossCreek Look”,
and recently we did just that for a group of Golf Villas.
The Villas were already built in a traditional suburban style
but not selling well. The owner commissioned MossCreek to
give them a much more eye-catching exterior. The challenge
for MossCreek was to give them an exterior of rustic elegance
without having to make major structural changes to the existing
buildings. Please click here
to see before and after photos, as well as several interior
photos. You can also visit the website of the villas at www.sanctuarygolfvillas.com
. We hope you will agree that the “MossCreek Look”
looks great! |

Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire Estate Guest Cabins
Work was just completed on a unique project
by MossCreek in New Hampshire. The owner of the largest privately
owned section of land on Lake Winnipesaukee commissioned MossCreek
to redesign several guest cabins located, literally, at the
water’s edge. The cabins were in need of a design updating,
but they could not be expanded beyond their existing size
and had to blend in with their surroundings. The designers
at MossCreek created new exteriors for the cabins, and made
suggestions as to interior updates, all with the intent of
maintaining their original charm. Amongst other visitors,
the music group “Counting Crows” have been guests
in the new-old cabins. Click

setting. |

Cheyenne, Wyoming Project Kick-Off
MossCreek recently traveled to the heart of Cowboy Country to kick off a new custom design. The project site is a 1500 acre spread just outside of Cheyenne Wyoming with blue sky views and amazing rock formations. Working from a folding table at the project site, we sketched out a home that took full advantage of the views. We even put the folding furniture to good use by “staging” the rooms within the footprint of the new home so as to visualize the views. While in Cheyenne, we also visited the Cowboy Hall Of Fame, wrangled an invitation to next year’s Frontier Days, and even did some Boot Scootin’ at a local watering hole. from the Seattle area and is used as their summer weekend home.
The design features an traditional German cradle frame, giving
it a highly unique look. The walls are “half timbered”
which means the reclaimed Douglas Fir timber frame was first
erected and the exterior walls were built between the post and
beams of the primitive frame style. Click

South Peak Project Approved
Lincoln, NH
We are pleased to announce that South
Peak Resort in Lincoln, NH has approved the design of a custom
residence designed by MossCreek. The design for this ultimate
ski vacation home was started in the summer of 2008 for a
client from Boston. During the first day of the project kick-off
meeting, MossCreek worked with the client to create initial
sketches of the design that incorporated all the features
and style they were looking for. The next day, a preliminary
presentation was made to the developer in order to receive
their initial comments.
Featured in the design is a generous great
room with three sides of glass and heavy timber trusses. A
large master bedroom on the main, with guest rooms on the
second level, insures privacy for the owner and their guests.
The extensive outdoor living porch extends into an open terrace
to accommodate gatherings of family and friends.
The lower level features two additional
bedrooms, a den, gym, and wine cellar.
To complete this ultimate ski retreat,
a “ski tuning” hut has been located across a bridge
over “Moss Creek”, and connects to the ski-in/ski-out
area. Click
here to see the preliminary design. |
